You know those moments that everyone has when they stop and think, “I should write a book”, or “I should open a restaurant”? These thoughts seem to come out of nowhere, feel awesome for five minutes or so, and then disappear. A lot of people have a lifelong dream of doing something, but fail to do it because “they weren’t good enough.”
Walt Disney once said: “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” I think he was right. Write that damn book. Any dream can be discarded or built upon. Try to go for the second option.
Don’t let yourself think that you’re not a good enough writer, or that you can’t cook for your life. You’ll learn. If you want to write a book, then do it. That special barbecue restaurant that you always wanted to start sounds like a good idea too. Don’t let yourself, or anyone else let you think that you’re not good enough to pursue your dream.
Steve Jobs was a dreamer. His opinion was “Here’s to the crazy ones. The rebels. The troublemakers. The ones who see things differently. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” It wasn’t easy for him. He came close to failing, but in the end, he started a revolution.
Those who dare to dream are the ones who accomplish success in this crazy little world of ours.
People that go against the odds to do something fantastic are the people that I look up to. These people dare dream, and then they accomplish it. They are the ones who, pardon the cliché, make the world a better place.
Anyone can dream and wait for someone else to make it happen. Those few who actually stand up and put their imaginations to work are the ones that are able to reach farther than anyone else. The passion to accomplish one’s own dream is stronger than any other.
Do what you want. Be what you want. Follow your dreams. That’s what’ll make you a happier person, and, with a little luck, a more successful one.
